Neurologist
Duties and responsibilities: A neurologist is a physician specializing in neurology and trained to investigate, or diagnose and treat neurological disorders. Neurologists may also be involved in clinical research, and clinical trials, as well as basic research and translational research. While neurology is a non-surgical specialty, its corresponding surgical specialty is neurosurgery. Neurology, being a branch of medicine, differs from neuroscience, which is the scientific study of the nervous system in all of its aspects.
Salary: $256,000
Education: A neurologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the treatment of disorders of the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Due to the complexity of the nervous system and the seriousness of nervous system injuries and diseases, a neurologist requires a great deal of education, similar to other doctors in medical specialties.
